Wearing 470 years of "Zen" and "Zest." 🍃

Wearing 470 years of "Zen" and "Zest." 🍃

I finally encountered the new "Chiso Silk" Haori (kimono jacket) by Chiso, the legendary Kyoyuzen dyeing house since 1555.

Yuzen is more than just a pattern; it’s a form of Japanese painting. Every delicate gradient and stroke is hand-painted using a technique perfected over centuries. While traditional Yuzen often carries the weight of history, this new silk feels incredibly light—like a modern breath of fresh air.

To me, Yuzen is the "Vintage Burgundy" of the textile world. It has a complex structure, a deep history, and an elegance that only improves with time.

Just like a bowl of premium Matcha, which was once a meditative ritual for Samurai and Zen monks, wearing Yuzen today is a way to find a moment of "Ma" (stillness) in our busy modern lives.
Honoring the heritage, but wearing it with a light, modern spirit.
