The God of Cherry Blossoms
Did you know the secret meaning behind the word "SAKURA"? 🌸✨
In ancient Japanese, "SA" refers to the God of Rice, and "KURA" means a sacred seat. Sakura is literally "The seat where the Rice God descends to watch over the fields."
When the cherry blossoms bloom, it’s a divine signal for farmers to begin planting. And as the blossoms fall, the vibrant green tea leaves begin to sprout—leading us to the first tea harvest (Shincha). 🍃
The Connection to Matcha:
Just as we welcome the Rice God under the cherry trees, we whisk a bowl of Matcha to celebrate the energy of nature. The white foam on a bowl of Matcha was often compared to blooming flowers—a symbol of prosperity and a prayer for a bountiful harvest. 🍵
From the sacred spring waters of Kyoto to the mist-covered tea fields, everything is connected through this seasonal ritual of gratitude. 🌊🌸
