Munakata Taisha holds the "Kenchasai"

Munakata Taisha holds the "Kenchasai" (Tea Offering Ceremony) every year on October 17th. 🍵

This tradition is deeply connected to Sazo Idemitsu, the founder of Idemitsu Kosan and a native of Munakata, who supported the region’s reconstruction during the post-war era. 🧔

To uplift the spirits of the people exhausted by the Great East Asia War, Mr. Idemitsu hosted a grand tea ceremony. ✨ For over 70 years, this prestigious ritual has continued, with the Head Master of the Omotesenke school personally preparing and offering tea to the deities. ☺️

The shrine grounds also feature a newly opened cafe called "Munakata Chayu," where you can enjoy local Yame tea. 🌿.∘ It’s a perfect spot to relax with "Kimochi," a sweet treat inspired by the three Munakata goddesses.
