coffee-focused "Jun-kissa" (Pure Tea Rooms)
Coffee in Japan has always been about more than just the caffeine—it's about the "space." 🕊️
Starting as intellectual salons for artists in the Meiji era, the scene eventually split into two: the lively, alcohol-serving "Cafés" and the serene, coffee-focused "Jun-kissa" (Pure Tea Rooms). 🎨☕️
From the post-war boom of Jazz and Manga cafés to the modern Third Wave movement, Japan's coffee scene continues to evolve.
While I love exploring modern roasteries (especially those influenced by Australian coffee culture! 🇦🇺🦘), my heart always finds its way back to the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of a traditional Jun-kissa. 🕰️🤎
